Lake Superior Writers is for everyone who cares about literature and writing!

LSW is one of the largest and most active literary organizations in our area, and we are delighted to have you join or renew your membership with us. Together, we can help the literary arts to flourish! As an organization, Lake Superior Writers works to foster writing communities, provide an audience for literature, and further the artistic development of writers through workshops, readings, and publications.

We hope you will actively participate in upcoming LSW programs and activities, including classes, workshops, writing groups, an annual writing contest, readings, and more.

We keep members informed about events through the monthly online newsletter NorthWords and our Facebook page. Each month, you’ll receive an email when we post our newsletter on our website, and you’re invited to contribute your news.

These are just a few of the benefits of membership:

• NorthWords. Members receive a monthly e-mail calendar of literary/artistic events and notifications of LSW-sponsored events.
• Writing Contest.  Members’ entry fee is waived for entering this annual contest.
• Networking.  LSW hosts a monthly virtual Writers’ Café that brings together fellow writers to discuss topics on writing, publishing and navigating the writing life.
• Discounts on Classes, Workshops, and Events. Members receive reduced entry fees to LSW workshops and special events. These opportunities can inspire and help writers in the development of craft.
• Annual Membership Event.  Every May all LSW members are invited to an annual event with a keynote speaker, highlights of the year to come, readings from winning Writing Contest winners and and opportunity to connect with other writers.
• Discounts at regional bookstores – with your new membership printed or e-card*:
  • The Bookstore at Fitger’s offers 10% discount on an entire regular-priced purchase, excluding candy and magazines.
  • Zenith Bookstore offers 10% discount on 1 item in an order.
  • Apostle Islands Booksellers in Bayfield will offer a coupon code for 20% off of one book in a purchase.
  • Honest Dog Books in Bayfield will offer a 20% discount in the store with showing of member card.

Lake Superior Writers’ Annual Membership

Join Lake Superior Writers or renew your membership! Our organization is funded through membership donations, grants, and monetary gifts. Lake Superior Writers is a nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. Donations to Lake Superior Writers are tax-deductible. The annual membership runs from January 1 to December 31. 

This year we have streamlined our Membership Levels, to provide a Basic Membership, a reduced Student rate, and an opportunity to support LSW with a generous contribution at the Sustainer level.

When you complete your membership transaction, you will be directed to a short questionnaire about your writing interests to help us server you better.

Lake Superior Writers is a 501(c)3 organization. Your membership dues are tax-deductible.
