Memoir Workshop

Back by popular demand! Duluth writer and instructor Felicia Schneiderhan will once again offer her memoir workshop – in person!

Memoir is one of the most popular forms of writing today. In this four-week workshop, participants will study a variety of memoirs and learn traditional and experimental forms for writing their own memoir. In-class activities will teach techniques for developing scenes, incorporating research, heightening overall structure and movement, and exploring the variety of writing forms available to the memoirist. If you are an experienced memoirist or just getting started, this active workshop will give you tools to best tell your story. Writers with ongoing material – or just an idea – are welcome to attend.

Each class will follow a 2-hour structure. The first hour will be spent learning and studying a memoir form through the use of published models and discussion, and the second hour will focus on idea generation, telling, writing, and reading back of new material. Research, journals, rewriting, critiquing, finishing and publishing will also be covered.

This workshop will be presented in-person in four 2-hour sessions on Thursday evenings in April and May.

Thursdays, April 20, 27, May 4, 11 6:30-8:30pm in the Depot Boardroom.

This workshop is $60 for members of Lake Superior Writers, $75 for non-members
