Jeannie is a former editor for an online flash fiction publication. Her short stories have been published in various online and print publications. Jeannie has taught classes at writers’ workshops and conferences, most recently at the University of Wisconsin/Superior, focusing on the craft of writing and the submission process. Jeannie wishes to mentor fiction writers.
Mara Hart has been an editor of three literary periodicals and three anthologies. She is the author of Lovecraft’s New York Circle and So Many Lovely Days. A former librarian and teacher, she has had over fifteen years’ experience as a mentor and editor. She lives in Duluth with two cats and many books.
Justin Powers is completing a degree in writing at UMD while working as a writer/editor/art director. He is about to finish his first book. As a journalist, Justin has written for magazines and newspapers.
Cheryl is a writer and editor of university publications at UMD. Her fiction has been included in numerous literary journals, including Dust & Fire and The Roaring Muse. She has received writing residency awards at Hambidge Center for the Arts, Nantucket Island Center for the Arts, Norcroft, and others. She worked with Sue Sojourner on the book, “Thunder of Freedom: Black Leadership and the Transformation of 1960s Mississippi” by Sue [Lorenzi] Sojourner with Cheryl Reitan. Cheryl will mentor either fiction or non-fiction writers.
AMBER LAURA YOUNG
Judy has over thirty years’ experience as a writer and writing teacher. Her work appears on public radio, in regional and national media, and in obscure literary journals. She’s the recipient of a 2016 Arrowhead Regional Arts Council grant, and a 2017 Minnesota State Arts Board grant for the completion of her first novel, and her short story, “Superior Mordant” appears in Going Coastal, the Lake Superior Writers short story anthology. Judy would love to help Northland writers polish their work, and will edit all genres.
NANCY LANTHIER CARROLL
Nancy edits commercial, creative, technical and scholarly writing. Her several years of experience includes: College of St. Catherine Alum magazine, Argosy PhD/EdD dissertations, catalog and radio advertisements, political campaign materials, and educational literature textbooks and online versions.
Mara has been serving as a mentor for LWS for the past fifteen years. She has graduate degrees in English and in Writing (Creative Non-Fiction). Mara is willing to edit non-fiction, Memoir and Fiction writing.
